Accountability Court Judge Rana Nasir has sent back the reference to the NAB as “the case does not fall under the jurisdiction of the court”.

Islamabad: The accountability on Thursday forwarded the Thatta water supply reference against former president Asif Ali Zardari back to the National Accountability Bureau.
Accountability Court Judge Rana Nasir sent back the reference to the NAB as “the case does not fall under the jurisdiction of the court”.
The court announced the reserved verdict after hearing arguments of both sides.
Earlier, Farooq H Naek represented Asif Ali Zardari before the court and argued that his client is facing charges of corruption worth Rs 30 million, which the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) couldn’t prove yet.
He submitted that after the NAB amendments, this case does not fall under the jurisdiction of the NAB anymore. Farooq H Naek told the court to send back this reference to NAB.
The court also accepted Asif Zardari, Faryal Talpur and other suspects’ pleas for one-day exemption from personal appearance.
It may be mentioned here that the anti-graft body had nominated Zardari, Ejaz Ahmed Khan, and 12 other suspects in the supplementary reference filed in connection with Thatta water supply scam. The bureau had not nominated Zardari in the interim reference.
