Islamabad: Special Aide to Prime Minister on Religious Harmony Maulana Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said that mosques will remain open across Pakistan for congregational Taraweeh prayers during the holy month of Ramazan.

While addressing a presser, Maulana Ashrafi said that mosques will remain open and prayers will take place in compliance with coronavirus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
“We had a meeting with President Arif Alvi two days ago, in which Ulema from all faiths participated. It was decided in the meeting that mosques will remain open with people strictly following precautionary measures.
Refuting the rumours regarding closure of mosques, he appealed people to wear mask in mosques and maintain six feet difference.
Pakistan is presently experiencing third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and contagious than the previous two waves.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 4,004 cases of coronavirus were reported while 102 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 15,026.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 700188.
