Telecom companies demand free provision of 5G spectrum
The companies have asked the government to auction the spectrum after the impact of 5G comes out.
Islamabad: Telecommunication companies have demanded free provision of 5G spectrum for five years from the government, GNN reported.
Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) officials said that for the launch of 5G, international laws will be reviewed and partners will also be consulted.
According to the document, the industry has asked the government to first allow free usage to test the impact of 5G. Also, tax exemption on import of 5G handsets and devices has also been sought.
Telecom companies have asked the government to auction the spectrum after the impact of 5G comes out.
The local level manufacturing and import of 2G and 3G devices should be banned, the companies demand the government.
PTA stated that the government will issue a policy directive on 5G launch, partners will be consulted for 5G launch.
Government will also appoint a regular consultant in this regard, it added.
Notably the telecom companies across Pakistan are providing 4G services to customers.
