Islamabad: Foreign Minister of China Qin Gang has arrived in Islamabad to participate in 5th China-Pakistan-Afghanistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers' Dialogue.

The 5th China-Pakistan-Afghanistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers' Dialogue is set to take place in Islamabad, and the Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, and the Chinese Foreign Minister, Qin Gang, are due to attend it. The Afghan delegation will include officials from various ministries, such as commerce and industry, transport, and trade, according to recent reports.
The visit's primary purpose, according to the Pakistani Foreign Office, is to continue Pakistan's political engagement process with Afghanistan and its commitment to practical engagement with the Afghan government. The agenda of the dialogue is expected to cover a wide range of bilateral issues, including politics, the economy, trade, connectivity, peace, security, and education.
Scheduled for May 6th, the Trilateral Foreign Ministers' Dialogue will feature the foreign ministers of all three countries, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China. During the visit, Foreign Minister Qin will also meet with Pakistani leaders and co-chair the fourth strategic dialogue between the foreign ministers of China and Pakistan with Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The upcoming meeting will serve as a crucial platform for discussions aimed at developing a comprehensive plan to promote regional peace and stability. The talks are expected to address several issues, such as the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan, cross-border terrorism, regional economic integration, the Belt and Road Initiative, and enhancing people-to-people exchanges.
Both China and Pakistan have played a significant role in the Afghan peace process, and they have reiterated their support for the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan. Furthermore, both nations are members of the Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG), which seeks to promote peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan and Pakistan share a long history of close ties, and Pakistan has been an important partner of Afghanistan. This trilateral meeting is an important step towards further strengthening the already-existing bonds and promoting regional cooperation.
