Berlin: Around 80,000 people have died from coronavirus in Germany following which an official memorial service will be held for them in Berlin on Sunday (today), sharing the pain of grieving families.

As per details, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and chancellor of Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel will join an ecumenical service (bringing people of diverse Christian religions together) in the morning at Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in country.
Later, the president will make a speech in a national ceremony at a concert hall in Berlin known as Konzerthaus, situated on the Gendarmenmarkt square in the central Mitte district of the city.
Today’s official memorial service will be broadcast live on television and radio from Berlin's Gendarmenmarkt square.
Moreover, representatives of all constitutional bodies also plan to attend the event.
The president will remind inconsolable families of those who died that they are not alone in their suffering as several were unable to visit or touch their dying loved ones due to the risk of infection and some have been left grieving on their own, as funerals are curtailed by pandemic curbs.
Today’s ceremony comes as German Health Authorities warn that many more will succumb to the virus.
Country’s government is seeking greater powers to impose tougher measures like night-time curfews to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus and this amendment still has to be approved by parliament.
Meanwhile, the country has reported 3,137,907 new Covid cases and 80,526 deaths in last twenty four hours.
Amid rising trend of coronavirus infections, it remains unlikely that German health workers will be forced to prioritize care for COVID patients.
