Cyclone Biparjoy to hit Pakistan today at 11am

Karachi: The cyclone Biparjoy will enter Pakistani territory on Thursday (today) at 11:00 am and hit Keti Bandar as it is close to it and a little away from Karachi.

According to details, the direction of the Arabian Sea cyclone has been changed and has moved away from the Karachi coast.

According to Department of Meteorology, Biparjoy has been moving towards the northeast for the past six hours. The cyclone is 310 kilometers away from the south of Karachi.

The cyclone is 240 kilometers away from the south and south-west of Keti Bandar.

The winds in the center and sides of the cyclone have been recorded at 150 to 160 kilometers per hour. Sea around the center of the system is very rough with waves up to 30 feet around the center of the system.

According to the forecast of Met Department, the storm will hit somewhere between Kati Bandar and Indian Gujarat on the evening of June 15 (today). The wind speed can be 100 to 120 km per hour when the storm hits the coast, while the maximum speed would be 140 km per hour which can also be jerky.

As a result of the cyclone, heavy rain with wind and thunder may occur on the south-eastern coast of Pakistan. There may be heavy rain at some places in Southeast Sindh, Thatta, Sajawal, Badin, Tharparkar, Umarkot are likely to receive heavy rain from today till June 17.

Evacuation process underway

Rescue operations are underway in the coastal areas by the administration, Pakistan Navy and Army. Navy divers safely rescued dozens of fishermen trapped in the sea.

More than 73,000 people have been evacuated from the coastal areas to safer places, despite the instructions, some people are still refusing to leave their homes in the coastal areas.

Evacuation has been completed In Badin from coastal areas including Zero Point, Gagongharo, Chak 57 and Bhagada Memon.

Meanwhile, fishermen are facing difficulties due to overfilling of mud on jetty Gadani. They are forced to pay Rs10,000 to Rs15,000 to bring their boats to the shore.
