CAIE offers options for students after exam cancellations
Cambridge International Examination (CIE) canceled exams this year.
Islamabad: Cambridge International Examination (CIE) has presented two choices to Pakistani students affected by the cancellation of exams on May 10, 11, and 12 this year.
The first option involves the British Council requesting special consideration from Cambridge on behalf of all affected candidates.
The second option permits candidates to withdraw from subjects where exams were canceled and receive a refund if they choose not to avail themselves of the special consideration offered.
According to CIE, candidates can request to withdraw their entry for subjects in the June 2023 series, excluding those affected by the May 10, 11, and 12 exam cancellations.
A statement from CIE emphasized that candidates must adhere to Cambridge International's withdrawal policy for 2023 when submitting a withdrawal request.
It is important to note that once a withdrawal request is made, the candidate cannot later request for the corresponding components to be marked.
The British Council will handle all withdrawal requests in accordance with the specified policy.
CIE's statement also highlights the need for schools and candidates to consider paragraph 3.2.10 of the Cambridge Handbook 2023, which states that coursework cannot be reused from a previous exam series.
Therefore, candidates who withdraw their entry in the June 2023 series and re-enter in a later series will need to produce new coursework for their new entry.
