Pakistan requested replacement of Afghanistan for WC warm-up matches
Pakistan Cricket Board doesn’t want to compete with Afghanistan for warm-up matches: Sources
Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly expressed its disinterest in playing the ICC World Cup warm-up match against Afghanistan, according to sources.
PCB is said to be keen on facing a non-Asian team during the warm-up match, considering they will already be competing against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup prior to the World Cup.
Sources indicate that the PCB has communicated its preference to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and has written a note requesting a replacement team for the warm-up match against Afghanistan.
Earlier, the PCB had also approached the ICC to change the venues for their matches against Australia and Afghanistan in the upcoming World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in India.
The official schedule for the ICC Cricket World Cup is anticipated to be announced on June 27, marking 100 days before the scheduled start of the tournament on October 5.
