The provincial cabinet holds meeting to decide to grant a 35 per cent increase the salaries of the Punjab government employees along with a 17 per cent raise in pensions based on basic salaries.

Lahore: The Punjab caretaker government is likely to raise the pay of the government employees to match that of federal government employees.
During a cabinet meeting headed by the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, it was decided to grant a 35 percent increase in the salaries to Punjab government employees, along with a 17 percent raise in pensions based on basic salaries.
Previously, the interim government of Punjab had notified a 30 percent raise in basic salaries for employees, but this was met with rejection and protests from the employees. They demanded an increase in salaries and facilities on par with the federal government's policies.
The situation had led to the formation of an All Government Employees Alliance, which put forth their demands to the Punjab government. The employees' concerns were eventually addressed by the federal government, leading to the assurance of salary increases.
