Islamabad: Pakistan will start Covid-19 vaccination drive for those aged 40 and above from May 03.

The announcement was made by head of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) Asad Umar amid surge in coronavirus cases in the country.
The Federal Minister for Planning and Development said that Pakistanis falling within the 40-49 years old will be vaccinated from Monday, May 03.
He further mentioned that more than 100,000 people had been vaccinated across Pakistan in a single day, for the second consecutive day.
"Second successive day of more than 1 lakh vaccinations. Encouraging to see pace of registration also picking up. Vaccination of those between 40 and 49 years age will be starting from next Monday the 3rd of May," he tweeted.

Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be dealdier and more contagious than previous two waves.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 5,480 cases of coronavirus were reported while 151 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 17,680.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 815,711.
As many as 708,193 patients have recovered from the disease with 5,263 critical cases.
