Rs. 6 increase in petrol rates suggested for people reeling under inflation
Islamabad: Government is all set to drop petrol bomb on inflation-hit nation as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Friday suggested hike in petroleum prices by up to Rs 6 per liter.
According to GNN, OGRA has sent a summary to the Petroleum Division in this regard, seeking revision of fuel prices.
If implemented, the price of petrol and diesel will be increased by Rs. 6 per liter on the basis of levy.
For the time being, the ex-depot price of high speed diesel (HSD) is Rs110.76 per litre and that of petrol is Rs108.56.
However, petroleum levy on petrol stands at Rs11.23 per litre while for HSD at Rs15.29.
The current levy on petrol is Rs 17.97 per liter while the current levy on diesel is Rs 18.36 per liter.
The final decision on petroleum prices products will be taken by Finance Ministry in consultation with Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Earlier, the government reduced prices of petroleum products by Rs2.32 per liter that was effective from April 15, 2021 and slashed the price of HSD by Rs2.32 per liter and the price of petrol by Rs1.79 per liter.
The prices of kerosene was also reduced also reduced by Rs 2.06.
