Section 144 imposed in Jhelum until August 12


Jhelum: Jhelum district administration has imposed Section 144 in the district Jhelum on Sunday.
District administration, fearing a backlash by PTI workers and supporters following the arrest of former prime minister and party Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Samiullah Farooq issued an order in this regard, stating that the provision would be in place until August 12 and that protest meetings and demonstrations would be prohibited, with those found in violation subject to punishment.
PTI chairman Imran Khan was arrested yesterday, and the Islamabad administration reacted quickly to prevent protests by the party workers by enforcing section 144, adding more police contingents to the city's roads, and even calling Rangers and FC personnel to take their positions.
Further, other cities across the nation also enacted the section. Section 144 imposed in Jhelum until August 12.
