Taking to social media, the 40-year old acclaimed singer conveyed his concern and prayers for India saying that their pain is unimaginable.

“People of India, you are facing very challenging times and pain one cannot imagine. In Pakistan, too, people are troubled. Maybe these tough times will make us understand the fact that there is nothing bigger than humanity. In these difficult times, the people of Pakistan and I stand with you and pray for your well-being,” he said.

Ali Zafar mentioned that the situation in Pakistan is also concerning and people are suffering from this new wave of coronavirus. He prayed for not just the two neighboring countries but also for the people all over the world who are battling the raging wave of Covid-19.

"We all are praying to God that our difficulties get resolved soon and there is happiness everywhere in India, Pakistan and everywhere else in the world. Let's all stand together and pray for each other during these challenging times."

India’s current Covid wave has taken on frightening proportions, driven in part by a new variant of the virus which has double mutations. Earlier this week, India overtook Brazil as the country with the second-highest number of cases in the world, behind the USA. Experts are concerned that given the low testing rate, India possibly has higher number of cases than either US or Brazil.

On Thursday, the country reported 412,262 new infections and 3,980 deaths. Real numbers could be much higher, with crematoriums and graveyards both running out of space across the country.
