Former cricketers' remarks on the challenges posed by the weather and the decisions made regarding the venues.

Delhi: Former Indian cricket captains Sunil Gavaskar and Harbhajan Singh have criticized the decision to hold Asia Cup matches in Colombo, raising questions about why the matches weren't shifted due to the adverse weather conditions.
Sunil Gavaskar pointed out that despite the evident impact of unfavorable weather, matches were still scheduled in Colombo.
He suggested that it appears the players were reluctant to go to Hambantota, but it is essential to understand why the matches couldn't be shifted to Hambantota.
According to Gavaskar, player comfort is important, but it's equally crucial for players to play cricket.
He emphasized that if the facilities are slightly less for a couple of days, it shouldn't be a problem as players prepare for an entire month.
Training for a couple of days with fewer resources should not be a significant issue.
Harbhajan Singh expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of proper training facilities being cited as a reason for not holding matches.
He noted that during their time, players never had a say in the choice of venues.
Matches took place wherever scheduled, and players focused on cricket.
Both former cricketers hinted at the likelihood that only swimming competitions between the teams might be possible in Colombo.
They questioned the logic behind not playing matches in Hambantota and suggested that decisions regarding venues should be made by officials, not players.
The Asia Cup matches have been plagued by rain in Colombo, leading to delays and interruptions.
