JI councilor shot to death in Karachi
Police officers have initiated an investigation into the incident, gathering evidence from the scene.
Karachi: In Karachi's Surjani Town area, a Jamiat-e-Islami councilor lost his life in a shooting incident, while two others sustained injuries.
The incident occurred in Sector 4-C of Surjani Town when a dispute over illegal electricity connections led to gunfire.
The deceased individual has been identified as Habibullah, who was a councilor for Jamiat-e-Islami.
According to the police, the dispute stemmed from illegal connections to electricity poles, with the group involved in the shooting allegedly extorting money in exchange for allowing these connections.
Habibullah and other locals had previously opposed paying these extortion fees.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated, gathering evidence from the scene.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, the Amir of Jamiat-e-Islami Karachi, reached Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and alleged that the "Kunda Mafia" is operating under the patronage of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
He called the incident a disgrace to the government and demanded immediate action from the Interior Minister, Chief Minister, and the Sindh Inspector General of Police.
On the other hand, U.C. 7 Chairman Unib Ali Kazmi, while speaking to the media, stated that this is an organized mafia that has also encroached upon people's homes.
