Sugar price falls further after crackdown against mafia
According to sugar dealers, the wholesale rate of sugar mills in South Punjab has increased to Rs155 per kg.
Lahore: After the crackdown by government against sugar mafia, the prices of sugar in various cities have further decreased.
According to media reports, the price of sugar per kg in Quetta decreased by Rs20 after which one kg of sugar is being sold at Rs200 while in some areas sugar is being sold at Rs205 to Rs210 per kg.
The price of per kg sugar fell from Rs225 to settle at 220 rupees yesterday.
District administration has claimed that after taking action against the hoarders, the price of sugar has settles at Rs190 per kg.
On the other hand, sugar price per kg in Peshawar wholesale market has decreased by Rs3, after which it is being sold at the rate of Rs172 per kg in wholesale market.
According to the dealers, the price of a 50 kg sack of sugar has increased to Rs8,600 in wholesale, while sugar is being sold at Rs190 per kg in retail.
Apart from this, the ex-mill rate of sugar mills of Punjab is still maintained at Rs170 per kg while the commodity is being sold at 180 to 190 rupees per kg in the open market.
According to sugar dealers, the wholesale rate of sugar mills in South Punjab has increased to Rs155 per kg and the wholesale rate of sugar mills in Central Punjab has increased to Rs159 per kg.
