Govt hikes traffic violation fines on highways, motorways
The police will impose a Rs. 300 fines for improper overtaking, and a Rs. 2000 fine for the use of HID lights.
Islamabad: The government has announced a massive increase of up to 200pc in traffic rules violation fines on national highways and motorways across the country on Tuesday.
The fine for violating the speed limit that is posted on highways and motorways has been raised to Rs 2000. For light cars, the top speed restriction is 120 km/h, whereas for heavy trucks, it is 110 km/h.
The police will now impose a 5,000 rupee fine on motorcycle riders, vehicles, and LTV drivers who are caught driving without a license, and a 10,000 rupee fine on HTV and PSV drivers.
Furthermore, Lane violations will henceforth pay drivers of motorcycles, cars, and LTVs Rs. 1,000, and those of HTVs and PSVs Rs. 5,000.
