Former cricketers Chris Gayle and Hashim Amla have shared their predictions for the ICC World Cup 2023 semi-finalists.
Lahore: Legendary South African cricketer Hashim Amla has joined former West Indies batsman Chris Gayle in naming the top four favorite teams for the ICC Men's World Cup 2023 tournament.
Chris Gayle's selection included Pakistan, India, England, and New Zealand as his picks for the semifinalists.
He even playfully suggested that if Pakistan and India were to reach the final, the players should demand hefty compensation from the ICC due to the global viewership expected, thanks to the intense rivalry between the two nations.
Now, Hashim Amla, known for his remarkable batting career, has unveiled his predictions for the ICC World Cup 2023 semifinalist teams.
His choices are also being considered strong contenders for the title, with cricket experts believing that one of these teams could emerge as the tournament champion.
In a recent interview with foreign media, Hashim Amla surprisingly omitted the reigning World Test Champion and five-time ODI World Cup winner, Australia, from his list of possible semifinalist teams.
Instead, Hashim Amla has identified Pakistan, India, England, and his native South Africa as the teams with the potential to reach the semifinals of the mega event.
It's worth noting that the ICC World Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place in India from October 5 to November 19.
The ten participating teams will compete in a total of 45 league matches against each other.
The top four teams from the league stage will qualify for the semifinals, scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Mumbai and Kolkata, respectively.
The grand final is set to be held in Ahmedabad on November 19, with reserve days allocated for the semifinals and finals.
