Additional instances of patients experiencing vision problems due to injections have been revealed: CEO of Health Multan.
Bahawalpur: Cases of patients experiencing vision problems as a result of injections have emerged in Bahawalpur and Multan, two cities in Punjab, Pakistan.
One individual in Bahawalpur reported that they had received an injection at a private hospital on September 21, after which they lost their eyesight.
The CEO of the District Health Authority in Bahawalpur has initiated an investigation into the matter, including checking the records of distributors.
It has been found that two private eye hospitals administered these injections, prompting inspections of stocks in all city hospitals.
In Multan, Dr. Faisal, the CEO of Health, reported that more cases of patients experiencing adverse effects from injections have emerged.
A week prior, seven patients received injections at a private clinic and are being recalled for follow-up examinations.
Dr. Faisal also mentioned that data on affected patients is being collected from private clinics.
The supply of these injections in the city has been immediately halted, and three affected patients are currently receiving treatment at Nishtar Hospital.
The affected patients received injections at private eye hospitals on Thursday and Friday, with some receiving second and third doses.
It is important to note that a total of 68 patients have now reported experiencing issues related to counterfeit injections in Punjab.
Following these incidents, the Drug Regulatory Authority has issued an order prohibiting hospitals and pharmacies nationwide from using the specific injections in question.
