Death toll rises to 47 in Mastung suicide blast
An emergency has been imposed in all hospitals.
Mastung: At least 47 people were killed while more than 80 were injured in a blast that took place in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Friday.
The district administration reported that Nawaz Gashkori, the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) for Mastung, was among the deceased.
According to the police, the explosion was a "suicide blast" in which the bomber detonated himself close to DSP Gishkori's vehicle.
"An emergency has been imposed in all hospitals," they claim.
Security forces surrounded the spot shortly after the explosion and started collecting evidence.
According to interim Balochistan Information Minister Jan Achakzai, rescue crews have been sent to Mastung. The critically injured individuals, he continued, are being transported to Quetta.
He stated that some of the injured were in critical condition.
Chief Minister Ali Mardan Domki has meantime ordered the authorities to detain individuals responsible for the explosion.
Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, the interim interior minister, harshly denounced the explosion and expressed his sorrow for the lives lost.
