It is imperative to uphold the principles and sovereignty of Pakistan.

Islamabad: In a bid to uphold impartiality and transparency throughout the electoral process, the Election Commission has released an exhaustive election code of conduct. The code delineates stringent directives for both domestic and international media and commentators.
Crucial provisions of the code of conduct include:
-
Impartiality Mandate: Local and international media outlets, as well as commentators, are compelled to abstain from exhibiting any bias or partiality towards a particular political party or candidate.
-
Reporting Unofficial Results: When disseminating preliminary results, media organizations must overtly specify that these results are unofficial and incomplete. The public should not treat them as definitive until officially announced.
-
Preservation of National Values: National media entities are expected to champion Pakistan's values and independence. They should eschew promulgating biased viewpoints that could undermine the credibility of national institutions, including the security apparatus and the judiciary.
-
Equitable Address of Accusations: In instances where one candidate levels allegations against another, both parties must be afforded the opportunity to substantiate or counter the accusations.
-
Monitoring of Coverage: Several governmental bodies, such as the Cyber Digital Wing of PEMRA, PTA, PID, and the Ministry of Information, will oversee media coverage of political parties and candidates.
-
Ceasing Media Campaigns: Media campaigns linked to the elections will conclude 48 hours prior to the election day.
For international media representatives and observers, the code of conduct comprises the following key facets:
-
Timely Visa Application: International media personnel and observers must submit their visa applications punctually and must not prolong their stay in Pakistan beyond the stipulated visa period.
-
Adherence to Sovereignty and Rights: Demonstrating respect for Pakistan's sovereignty, the freedoms of individuals, and fundamental rights is obligatory.
-
Objective Reporting: Observers must ensure that their observations and reportage remain unbiased, objective, and accurate. It is forbidden for them to adorn the insignia or colors of any political party.
This code of conduct also extends to national observers, who are enjoined to respect national sovereignty, fundamental rights, and cultural traditions.
