Islamabad: The government has received record Rs222 billion from the masses under the head of petroleum levy in the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year, 2023-24 against the target of Rs869 billion set for this year on Thursday.
According to sources, the government received about Rs47 billion from customers in the three months between July and September 2022, and Rs580 billion for the full year.
Thus, they stated, the Rs222 billion collected this year constituted a 368 percent rise.
They said that the current levies on customers were Rs60 for one liter of petrol and Rs55 for one liter of high-speed diesel, respectively.
