World sighted first Lunar Eclipse of 2021
The world sighted the first lunar eclipse of 2021 on Wednesday in Australia, Hong Kong and Tokyo, while a partial eclipse was witnessed at Chicago, Argentina and the Beijing.
The lunar eclipse was not visible in Pakistan due to daylight. However, only the penumbral phase was visible in India, Sri Lanka, western China and Mongolia.
A total lunar eclipse occurs when Earth’s umbra, the central and dark part of its shadow covers the Moon’s entire surface.
The moon was the biggest of the year and popularly known as Super Flower Full Moon which was observed at the closest point to Earth in its orbit, making it appear 15% bigger than normal.
The May moon is known as the Flower Moon as it is in the spring season.
Those who can witness the moon are indeed lucky for the next Super Blood Moon will take place in 2033.
