“You have right to allege but come up with proofs,” CJP Isa reacts to allegations of election rigging

The sources say that an important meeting of the judges of the top court held at the chamber of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa at his chamber where he personally was present to deliberate and analyze the rigging allegations in the general elections.

Islambad:   Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa on Saturday reacted to the allegations of rigging levelled against him by Rawalpindi Division Commissioner, saying that “these allegations are baseless,”.

“Three is no truth in these allegations; you can also make such kind of allegations,” said the Chief Justice while responding to the questions of a journalist.

CJP Isa said, “You have the right to allege but come up with the proofs. What is right or wrong will be decided at the later stage,”.

He said, “Tomorrow he will be accused of murder or theft,”.

On other hands, an important meeting of the Supreme Court Judges held at the chamber of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa to deliberate the allegations levelled against the top judge by the Rawalpindi Division Commissioner.

The sources said that senior judges of the top court including Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa was also present there in the meeting.

The reaction came after Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha said that election fraud took place under his watch and he being guilty surrendered himself before the police. He said that Chief Election Commissioner and Chief Justice were also involving in the rigging. He said that his ancestors sacrificed for the sake of Pakistan and his conscious did not allow him to do so.

“I decided to commit suicide this morning after Fajr prayer,” said the commissioner.

He stated that he resigned from his position and asked the other bureaucrats not to bow before anyone to commit any wrong doing.

The ECP earlier today also rejected the allegations of Commissioner Chatha and announced proper investigation into the matter. Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Caretaker Punjab Information Minister Amir Mir also rejected the allegations of rigging and said that proper investigation would be held into this matter.

All political parties incuding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demanded free and fair investigation into the allegations of rigging in the Rawalpindi division.
