Starting from today (Wednesday) Turkey has imposed a 14-day must quarantine on Pakistan travellers.

According to the Turkish Ministry of the interior, Passengers departing from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, South Africa, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and those who are understood to be in these countries in the last 14 days will be requested to submit a negative PCR test report 72 hours before entering to Turkey, and these passengers will be quarantined for 14 days in places determined by the governorships.
Passengers departing from the United Kingdom, Iran, Egypt and Singapore will be required to submit a negative PCR test result that has to be made maximum of 72 hours before entry, the statement said.
“When entering Turkey from countries other than not included in the list mentioned, passengers will not be required to submit a negative PCR test result if they submit a document issued by the relevant country’s official authorities stating that they have been vaccinated at least 14 days before the entrance to Turkey and/or have had the disease and cured within the last 6 months.”
According to a Foreign Office spokesman, the ban was announced by Turkish authorities in Ankara on June 1, but after efforts by the Pakistani embassy in Turkey, Turkish authorities released Pakistanis arriving on June 1 from mandatory quarantine.
Per Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman, after arriving at Istanbul Airport with a negative PCR test, the passengers who arrived yesterday were allowed to enter Turkey.
The Pakistani embassy in Ankara and the Consul General in Istanbul are in touch with Pakistanis while a team of Consulate General is also present at Istanbul Airport to assist Pakistani nationals, the spokesperson added.
On May 31, 2021, the Government of Turkey (GoT) announced a gradual normalization period to stop the spread of COVID-19, imposing a curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday through Saturday, and a full lockdown in effect during Sundays beginning at 10 p.m. on Saturday and ending at 5 a.m. on Mondays.
The COVID-19 related restrictions apply to all citizens and residents of Turkey however tourists are exempt from COVID-19 restrictions.
Turkey has confirmed 7,112 new Covid-19 cases, including 602 symptomatic patients, as the total infections in the country reached 5,256,516. The death toll from the virus in Turkey rose by 129 to 47,656, while the total recoveries climbed to 5,124,081 after 9,457 more recovered in the last 24 hours.
