Lahore: The Punjab Poultry Traders Association Tuesday given a call for a complete shutdown strike from 5:00pm.

After rising inflation in the country, getting day-to-day goods became a problem, the issue of supply of broiler could not be resolved yet. Despite the increase in the official rate list, the vendors did not take the supply as the supply of live broiler was more than the fixed rates.

It is pertinent to note that the shopkeepers did not take the supply due to the low price set in the official rate list yesterday, due to which most of the broiler shops in the city remained closed.

The shopkeepers are of the opinion that if the supply rates are in accordance with the official rates, they will take the supply, they cannot sell meat at low rates by taking expensive supplies.

Broiler shops in several areas of the city, including Garhi Shahu, Darughawala, Salamatpura, Carriage Shops Mughalpura, Shalimar Bagh, Shadbagh and Islampura, are closed due to price disputes.

President Punjab Poultry Association Tariq Javed said that the vendors who have taken the supply should not take the supply at all after 5:00pm today. They cannot bear the loss, the government should improve the supply or adjust the rate list according to the supply.

Notably, in the official rate list, the supply of live broiler has been set at Rs463 per kg, while in the market, live broiler is being supplied at Rs495 per kg with an increase of Rs32.
