Polio virus in environmental samples of Karachi
The virus was confirmed in environmental samples from 10 districts across the country in April
Karachi: Polio virus has been detected for the first time in the environmental samples of District South and Mirpur Khas of Karachi.
According to officials, the virus was confirmed in environmental samples from 10 districts across the country in April.
Officials said that polio virus has also been confirmed in environmental samples from Kemari, Hyderabad and Jamshoro districts of Karachi, while the virus has also been found in environmental samples from Sukkur and Jacobabad.
Apart from this, polio virus was detected in environmental samples in Quetta, Chaman, and Naseerabad districts of Balochistan.
It is pertinent to note that polio virus has been found in the environmental samples of 33 districts in Pakistan so far this year. Two cases of polio have been reported in Pakistan so far this year.
