Karachi: An Anti-Terrorism Court has acquitted Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leaders in connection with 21 cases registered under hate speech charges.

According to details, among the acquitted leaders include MQM-P leaders including, Dr. Farooq Sattar, Waseem Akhtar, Aamir Khan, Khawaja Izharul Hassan, Rauf Siddiqui, Qamar Mansoor, Salman Mujahid and others. The court had earlier reserved its verdict on the acquittal pleas filed by MQM-P leaders.
All these leaders had been booked for acting as facilitators in hate speeches done by MQM founder in August 2016.
The Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) had indicted MQM leaders Farooq Sattar, Aamir Khan, Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan, Qamar Mansoor, Rehan Hashmi, Rauf SiddiquiJawed Rahim, Mehfooz Yar Khan, Amjadullah and others. The accused had pleaded innocent and refused to accept the charge sheet.
Later, the MQM-P leaders challenged the decision and acquittal pleas were filed by them in the court.
It is pertinent to mention here that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder had been charged by the police along with other party leaders over provoking people to spread violence through his hate speech in August 2016 from London.
