Budget proposal to increase tax on imported mobiles
There is also a proposal to increase the PTA tax on imported luxury mobile phones
Islamabad: It has been proposed to increase the tax on imported mobile phones in the federal budget for the next financial year 2024-25, reportedly.
According to media reports, it is proposed to levy federal excise duty on imported mobile phones, FED gross assessment is being done on imported mobile phones.
There is also a proposal to increase the Pakistan Telecommunication Tax (PTA) tax on imported luxury mobile phones. The General Sales Tax (GST) is also levied up to 25 percent on imported mobile phones.
The reports also suggest that the upcoming Finance Bill proposes to further increase GST on imported mobile phones. With the existing 25 percent GST levied, further GST is difficult.
It was reported that new revenue measures of Rs2,000 billion will be taken for the first time in history
