Zubair's claim of Nawaz, Bajwa meeting is baseless, Malik Ahmed
He rejected the claim of former PML-N leader Muhammad Zubair and also indicated legal action against him
Lahore: The leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Speaker of Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmed Khan rejected the claim of former League leader Muhammad Zubair regarding the meeting of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former Army Chief General Retired Qamar Javed Bajwa and indicated legal action against him.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmed Khan said that he has been against the sit-ins. They have not produced any results but instability. Since 2014 this series has started. The groups come, shut down the city, sit for two to four months and destroy a multi-billion-dollar economy.
He stated that whenever the country faces threats, the nation gets united. The political parties have to play their role, while the assembly is a forum for legislation and problem-solving, responsible behavior should be depicted during the proceedings of the House.
In response to a question regarding the meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Qamar Javed Bajwa, he rejected the claim of former PML-N leader Muhammad Zubair and also indicated legal action against him.
He added that such a thing was not expected from Muhammad Zubair, his words are baseless and there can be no bigger lie than this. He denied the allegations regarding the meetings in London. If Muhammad Zubair has details, bring them forward.
Malik Ahmed further said that there was no meeting or talk between Nawaz and Qamar (R) Bajwa before the end of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. What kind of meeting was it that only Zubair knows about that. One is a former army chief and the other is a political leader who is known to everyone when he steps out of the house, then how is it possible that this meeting was kept secret?
He continued to say that M. Zubair could face difficulties on these charges, that both sides have the right to take legal action against him. A government was constitutionally removed, they allege that it was a conspiracy in which the former army chief and the former prime minister were involved.
Speaker Punjab Assembly also stated that PTI addressed press talk on Muhammad Zubair's allegations that the court should take suo motu action on it and a judicial commission should be formed on it. I think that before forming the commission, Zubair should explain when, where and how this meeting took place.
It is pertinent to note that the former spokesperson of Muslim League (N) Muhammad Zubair had claimed in a private TV program a few days ago that General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa had before ending Imran Khan's government through a no-confidence motion, met Nawaz Sharif in London and was offered another extension.
