Ayesha Raza Farooq would oversee the anti-polio campaign in Pakistan and lead the task force established for this purpose

Islamabad: The federal government on Tuesday appointed PML-N Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq as the focal person for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's anti-polio campaign.
The sources said that Ayesha Raza Farooq's appointment to this honorary position was made on the instructions of PM Shehbaz Sharif.
In her role, she will update the Prime Minister on the government’s anti-polio efforts and chair the meetings of the National Polio Steering Committee.
The sources further said that Ayesha Raza Farooq would oversee the anti-polio campaign in Pakistan and lead the task force established for this purpose. She would also make recommendations for implementing the Polio Action Plan.
Besides it, the focal person would coordinate with international anti-polio partners, engage with international donors, and represent Pakistan at the international level regarding polio efforts.
It may be mentioned here that Ayesha Raza Farooq has previously served as the prime minister’s focal person during a former PML-N government and was a member of the National Assembly.
