Police said that there was clash between Bugti tribe members over personal enmity

Karachi: Five people were killed and three seriously injured in the exchange of fire in the commercial area of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Karachi, the largest city in the country.
According to media reports, police and rescue officials said that there was a clash between the Bugti tribe members over personal enmity, which resulted in an exchange of fire.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza told media that two groups led by Fahad Bugti and Ali Haider Bugti exchanged fire near Ali Haider's residence on Khayaban Nishat.
Among the dead is 50-year-old Fahad Ahmed Nawaz Bugti, who was the nephew of slain Baloch chief Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.
Ali Haider Bugti, nephew of Bugti Sardar, is among the seriously injured. The DIG said that the police have eight suspects in custody, who have been transferred to different police stations in South District.
According to DIG South, the two factions of the Bugti clan had an old enmity and had lodged First Information Reports (FIRs) against each other in Sahil and Darakshan police stations.
They told media that it seems the two men had a heated exchange over the phone, after which Ali Haider Bugti went to Fahad's residence with his gunman.
Taking notice of the incident, Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Linjar sought a report from the Additional Inspector General of Police, Karachi. He said that no one is above the law and every step will be taken to establish a government writ.
He also ordered strict legal action against those involved in the violent clashes, adding that no one will be allowed to disturb the peace of the city.
