Uzma Kardar, spokesperson for the Punjab Chief Minister on the Polio campaign, and senior PML-N leader MPA Malik Waheed grace event under Al-Makki Al-Madani Dialysis Center in Lahore today

Lahore: An Independence Day celebration was organized by Al-Makki Al-Madani Dialysis Center in Tajpura Scheme, Lahore on Wednesday.
The event was graced by Uzma Kardar, the spokesperson for the Punjab Chief Minister on the Polio campaign, and senior PML-N leader MPA Malik Waheed as the chief guests.
Other notable attendees included Saleem Ahmed Khan, President of the Rotary Club Metropolitan Lahore, sports and showbiz stars, local polio team members, core committee, MMDC executive committee members, civil society representatives, a large number of women, people from various walks of life, and dialysis patients.
Dr. Muhammad Jameel, Chairman of MMDC, welcomed all the guests, and the flag-hoisting ceremony was led by Uzma Kardar and MPA Malik Waheed. Guests were given a tour of the dialysis center. The main event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Qari Usman Ashraf, followed by a naat recitation by Nayyir Mukhtar. A young girl, Hoorain, performed the patriotic song "Dil Dil Pakistan."
Uzma Kardar, along with the polio team, administered polio drops, marking the start of the campaign. In her address, she congratulated the entire administration of Al-Makki Al-Madani Dialysis Center, expressing that such institutions are valuable allies of the government in serving humanity through self-help efforts. MPA Malik Waheed praised Dr. Jameel’s commitment to serving humanity during these challenging times.
Dr. Muhammad Jameel highlighted the purpose behind the establishment of Al-Makki Al-Madani Dialysis Center, mentioning that worldwide, one in ten people suffers from kidney disease, and out of every million, 100 people experience kidney failure. MMDC has been working since 2022 to diagnose and treat the increasing number of kidney disease cases in Pakistan. He shared that over 3,000 dialysis sessions have been conducted at the center, each costing around PKR 5,500, provided free of charge through the support of donors.
Additionally, over 3,000 patients are examined free of charge each month in the outpatient department. Besides general patients, nine specialist doctors also provide their services, and free medicines are distributed. The center also offers ultrasound and laboratory facilities.
On the occasion of Independence Day, Dr. Muhammad Jameel announced that all dialysis and ultrasound services would be provided free of charge to patients.
The program concluded with the cutting of the Independence Day cake, followed by a walk in which patients in wheelchairs, their families, civil society members, students, scholars, and a large number of local residents participated.
The participants carried placards displaying slogans celebrating Independence Day and the services of Al-Makki Al-Madani Dialysis Center.
