Authority says water levels in all rivers and barrages across Punjab are normal

Lahore: The Indus Water River System Authority (IRSA) on Saturday stated that India has not released any water so far in any river.
There is no expectation of significant water outflows from India in the coming days, IRSA maintained after the news as India released water in Pakistani rivers without intimation.
According to authority, water levels in all rivers and barrages across Punjab are normal. The flow in the Indus River is at a low flood level, while the situation in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan is also stable.
The Chenab and Jhelum rivers are flowing at normal levels, with the Chenab River reporting an inflow of 60,000 cusecs and an outflow of 38,000 cusecs at Marala.
At Khanki, the inflow is 79,000 cusecs, with an outflow of 71,000 cusecs. Qadirabad is seeing an inflow of 79,000 cusecs and an outflow of 61,000 cusecs. Similarly, water flow at Trimmu and Panjnad is at normal levels, as are the Ravi and Sutlej rivers.
Mangla Dam's water level is at 70% capacity, while Tarbela is at 99%. The Indian dams on the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers are at around 50% capacity on average, with Bhakra Dam at 54%, Pong at 53%, and Thein Dam at 26%.
According to IRSA and the Irrigation Department, there has been no significant water release from India, and no large outflows are expected in the coming days. “Reports in the media about a potential 200,000 cusec release from India are baseless,” IRSA continued.
Meanwhile, PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia reassured that PDMA Punjab and all relevant departments are on alert and have completed preparations for any potential flood threats. The PDMA control room continues to monitor the situation round the clock, and residents are being pre-warned in case of any emergencies.
