Four more polio cases in Pakistan, increase to 32 this year
Number of polio-affected children in Pakistan may reach 55 to 65 by the end of the year
Islamabad: Four more cases of polio virus have been reported in the country.
Polio cases have been reported in Jacobabad, Malir districts of Karachi, and Dera Ismail Khan. A 32-month-old girl and an 18-month-old boy were infected with the polio virus in Thul tehsil of Jacobabad.
A six-year-old child has been infected with polio in Bin Qasim tehsil of Malir district, while a 22-month-old child has contracted the polio virus in Dera Ismail Khan, after which the number of children affected by polio in the country this year has increased to 32.
Pakistani authorities and international experts have expressed risk that many more children will be affected by polio in October.
According to experts, the number of polio-affected children in Pakistan may reach 55 to 65 by the end of the year.
