Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General (IG) Akhtar Hayat Gandapur claimed on Tuesday that a police constable, who is the key facilitator of the suicide attack that killed at least 86 police officials in Peshawar Police Lines in January 2023, had been arrested.
Speaking at a press conference, Gandapur said that Muhammad Wali was arrested from Jamil Chowk a few days ago and two suicide jackets were recovered from his possession.
The IG told the media that during the investigation it was revealed that the suspect belonged to the police department. The arrested suspect had held a meeting with terrorists of Jamaatul Ahrar and Mohammad Khurasani, he said, adding that the suspect had been arrested by the Afghan forces as well.
