Chairman FBR directed to withdraw proposed amendments to Customs Baggage Rules 2006
Islamabad: The Chairman Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stopped the implementation of the proposal by the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) to ban more than one mobile phone.
It is pertinent to note that on Monday, the FBR issued a notification regarding the amendment to the baggage scheme, under which it was decided to completely ban commercial items from abroad and only one mobile phone for personal use was allowed.
According to the report, the Chairman FBR directed to withdraw the proposed amendments to the Customs Baggage Rules 2006 and immediately stopped the implementation of the proposal to ban bringing more than one mobile phone.
The report said that under the existing law 2006, passengers coming from abroad are allowed to bring two mobile phones.
In addition, the Chairman FBR has directed to withdraw the proposal to ban commercial items worth more than $1,200 and asked to withdraw the proposed amendments to the rules and resubmit them after consultation.
