Lahore: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore indicted former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Dr Yasmin Rashid and other accused in the arson and siege case registered at Shadman police station on May 9.
Judge Manzar Ali Gul of the ATC went to Kot Lakhpat Jail to conduct the hearing, during which the accused denied the crime.
Other accused include Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Sanam Javed and others. The Shadman police station has registered a case.
It is pertinent to note that after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder’s arrest from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9, 2023, there was a nationwide protest by the PTI, during which military, civil and private installations were set on fire, and at least eight people were killed and 290 injured.
Subsequently, 1,900 people involved in clashes, vandalism, and arson with law enforcement agencies across the country were arrested. Cases were also registered against PTI founder and his party leaders and workers.
