Tariff for charging stations is being reduced from Rs71.10 to Rs39.70


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Energy Awais Leghari said that the process of reforms in the energy sector is underway, rules and regulations have been made for charging stations to make electric vehicles accessible to the public, and the electricity tariff of EV stations has been reduced by 45 percent.
Addressing a press conference in the federal capital Islamabad, Awais Leghari stated that the circular debt decreased in the year 2024 compared to the five months of July to November 2023. Our performance was better during this period. Distribution companies (Discos) incurred a loss of Rs223 billion during these months of the year 2023, which did not exceed Rs170 billion in the said months of the year 2024.
He added that yesterday, in the Cabinet Committee on Energy, the Prime Minister took an important step and decided to provide electricity to all industrial zones on an equal basis, changing the procedure related to all industrial and economic zones.
Awais Leghari further said that rules and regulations have been made for EV charging stations to make electric vehicles accessible to the people, and the tariff for charging stations for vehicles has been reduced by 45 percent.
The Federal Minister also stated that the tariff for charging stations is being reduced from Rs71.10 to Rs39.70. NOC for charging stations will be issued in 15 days. There will be a charging station in every neighborhood, permission will be given in this regard through the e-portal. This business can be started by investing Rs2 million to Rs10.5 million.
The Federal Minister for Energy continued to say that it is considered a great success at the international level. It is a positive step towards a good environment and a great opportunity for the people as an alternative to motorcycles, rickshaws, and small 800 cc vehicles.
Awais Leghari said that electricity prices have been reduced to a large extent. From IPPs to privatization of discos, we have proven ourselves at every stage after the government came to power. The Special Investment Facility Council (SIFC) has played a huge role in providing a conducive environment.
He claimed that in the next few months, Pakistan will become the cheapest electricity provider in the region.
