Environmental samples from Lakki Marwat have turned polio-positive
Islamabad: Polio virus has been confirmed in environmental samples from four districts across the country. These samples were collected in 2024, after which the number of polio cases in the year 2024 has reached 73.
According to the details, environmental samples from Lakki Marwat have turned polio-positive. Wild Poliovirus One (WPV1) has been confirmed in the environmental samples. Sampling for polio tests from the affected districts was done in December 2024.
Similarly, sewage samples from Tando Allah Yar, Khairpur, and Tando Muhammad Khan have come out polio-positive for the first time.
It is pertinent to note that 73 polio cases have been reported in the country during the year 2024.
