CJP Yahya said: “I replied to IMF delegation that we have taken oath of independence of judiciary under constitution"


Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi has said that the letter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder has been sent to the Judges Constitutional Committee, which will decide this matter as it comes under Clause III of Article 183. The Constitutional Bench should look into this matter.
Talking to journalists after meeting a special delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the Supreme Court, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi said that he would brief about the meeting with the IMF delegation, the letter of the founder PTI, and also the National Judicial Policy Making Committee.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan said: “I replied to the IMF delegation that we have taken an oath of independence of the judiciary under the constitution. I told the delegation that this is not our job to tell you all the details. I told the delegation about the agenda of the National Judicial Policy Making Committee”.
He further said that he told the delegation that the subordinate judiciary is supervised by the High Courts. The delegation inquired about the observance of contracts and property rights, to which he replied that they were making reforms on this.
