Pakistan falls to 135th place in Corruption Perception Index

The Transparency International has released the Corruption Perception Index 2024.

According to media reports, Pakistan has fallen to 135th place in the Corruption Perception Index released by Transparency International.

According to the Corruption Perception Index, Denmark continues to be in the first place, while Finland is at the second and Singapore is at the third place.

According to the index, the United States has fallen to 28th place after falling, India is at 96, Turkey is at 107, Bangladesh is at 151, and Afghanistan is at 165.

According to the index, Pakistan’s ranking in corruption was based on data obtained from eight different sources. Pakistan’s ranking in the index also dropped further to 27. In 2023, Pakistan’s ranking in the Corruption Perception Index was 29.

According to the index released by Transparency International, the index score for legal action against officials who misuse their powers or punish them remained at a dismal 21, while the misuse of public resources and related indices decreased from 20 to 18.

According to the index, the score for paying bribes for business or facing corrupt practices decreased from 35 to 32, while the index for corruption in the political system increased from 32 to 33.

According to the report, the index for accountability of government institutions and civil servants, and the index for the capture of the state by influential groups increased from 35 to 39. The index for giving public funds to individuals or companies due to corruption decreased from 45 to 33.

The index states that the score for the use of government resources for personal purposes by the executive, judiciary, military, and legislators increased from 25 to 26, while the score for the public sector, executive, judiciary, and legislative corruption decreased from 20 to 14.
