Autopsy report shows signs of torture on body of famous Sindhi poet Akash Ansari

Badin: Police have included Dr. Akash Ansari’s foster son and driver in their investigation, suspecting that his death may not have been accidental, officials confirmed on Sunday.
Dr. Akash Ansari, a famous Sindhi poet, passed away in a fire that broke out at his house in Citizen Colony, Hyderabad. He was 69 years old.
His cousin, Jan Mohammad Ansari, revealed that the poet had previously filed a report accusing his foster son, Latif Akash, of attempting to kill him. He also said that Latif was a drug addict and had threatened Akash’s life. The family is considering legal action after consulting with lawyers.
Dr. Ilmuddin Ansari, a friend of Akash, said the post-mortem was done because of suspicions that something foul had happened. The report showed signs of torture on Akash’s body.
The police have arrested both suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.
Latif claimed that Akash was asleep when the fire started in his room around 8:30 am on Saturday.
While the family planned to bury Akash in Badin, authorities asked them to bring the body to Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad, for an autopsy.
The police later suggested that a short circuit might have caused the fire. They also said that Latif was at home when the fire broke out and had called for help from rescue workers and neighbors.
The police also mentioned that Akash had filed a case against his foster son in 2024 but had later resolved the issue.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah ordered an investigation into the incident. Following his instructions, Hyderabad SSP formed a five-member team, led by SP Masood Iqbal, to investigate further.
