SBP has provided new banknotes worth Rs27bn in all denominations to 17,000 branches of commercial banks

Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has strongly denied reports that new banknotes will not be issued on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The SBP said in a clarification statement that it is continuing its long-standing annual tradition of issuing new banknotes to commercial banks on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 and is striving to facilitate the public’s access to new banknotes through the banks’ extensive nationwide branch network.
The statement said that continuing the long-standing tradition, the State Bank has so far provided new banknotes worth Rs27 billion in all denominations to 17,000 branches of commercial banks during the month of Ramadan this year so that they can be distributed to the public.
According to the State Bank, arrangements have also been made to ensure that the ATM network of banks issues quality and clean banknotes to the public without interruption on the occasion of the religious festival.
To ensure the efficient distribution of new banknotes and their availability in all commercial bank branches, the State Bank has also deployed its cash monitoring teams to ensure easy provision of new banknotes to the public, the SBP added.
