Tensions in global trade to increase importance of bilateral trade: Fin Min

Islamabad: Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that regional trade and bilateral trade between different countries will increase in importance due to tensions in global trade.

Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Chinese Finance Minister Lan Fuan and requested cooperation from the People’s Bank of China to advance the process of issuing Panda Bonds.

The Finance Minister, in a meeting with his Saudi counterpart, Muhammad Al-Jadaan, expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s long-term support in the journey of economic development, especially assistance in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program.

Muhammad Aurangzeb also met with Emirati Minister of State for Financial Affairs Muhammad bin Hadi Al-Husseini, in which the need to convert the MoUs into practical agreements was emphasized.

He, while addressing a discussion under the Center for Global Development, said that regional trade and bilateral trade between different countries will increase in importance due to tensions in global trade.

Meanwhile, the Finance Minister also attended the MENAP Finance Ministers and Governors meeting with the Managing Director of the IMF and expressed interest in technical assistance from the IMF for institutional capacity building.

The Finance Minister, in a meeting with the President of the Gates Foundation Global Policy and Advocacy, appealed for continued support for polio eradication.
