Pakistan warns of terminating Simla Agreement if Indus Waters Treaty annulled
‘India cannot unilaterally revoke Indus Waters Treaty, and if it does, Pakistan will consider terminating Simla Agreement’

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has stated that if India annuls the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan also reserves the right to terminate the Simla Agreement and other bilateral accords.
This was announced during a joint press conference held by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Atta Tarar, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, and other officials.
On the occasion, Ishaq Dar read out the decisions made by the National Security Committee (NSC).
Dar said that today’s NSC meeting was attended by both military and civilian leadership, during which several decisions were made in response to India’s aggressive actions.
He emphasized that India cannot unilaterally revoke the Indus Waters Treaty, and if it does, Pakistan will consider terminating the Simla Agreement and other pacts.
He added that Pakistan has responded to India’s actions with even stronger measures, including the closure of its airspace to Indian aircraft.
“India always resorts to a blame game. If it has any evidence, it should present it. We have immediately closed the Wahga border, and reduced the staff of India’s High Commission in Islamabad from 55 to 30, effective from April 30,” Dar said. “Additionally, we have declared Indian defence, naval, and air attachés stationed in Islamabad as persona non grata and ordered them to leave the country.”
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif noted that while India has not officially named Pakistan in connection with the Pahalgam attack, the Indian media is actively running such narratives.
He further said, “To date, the US has never labeled a prime minister of any country a terrorist or murderer to the point of imposing entry bans. Modi is a certified terrorist.”
