NAB makes Rs2.085 billion in direct recoveries and Rs86 billion in indirect recoveries

Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recovered and returned over Rs88 billion during the first quarter of 2025, from January to March, according to a report released on Saturday.
The report states that NAB made Rs2.085 billion in direct recoveries and Rs86 billion in indirect recoveries. Most of the indirect recoveries came from public and private land involved in illegal transfers and occupations. The recovered assets and funds were handed back to the affected parties and institutions.
In Balochistan, NAB recovered 340 acres of Chiltan Park and 250 acres of Forest Department land, valued at Rs6.45 billion. NAB Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa secured Rs0.56 billion in a case involving officials from the University of Swabi and various departments.
NAB Lahore made the largest recovery, retrieving Rs70.87 billion from three major cases: Employees Cooperative Housing Society, State Life Insurance Employees Cooperative Housing Society, and Sarwar Omega Villas. NAB Multan recovered Rs13 million from the GFS 7 Wonders Housing Scheme, while NAB Sukkur recovered 610 acres of NHA land worth Rs8.53 billion.
Out of the direct recoveries, Rs9.72 million was returned to the federal government, Rs10.80 million to provincial governments, and Rs73.51 million to various departments and financial institutions. Another Rs1.99 billion was distributed among 19,105 victims of different scams.
With these figures, NAB’s total recoveries since its creation now stand at Rs6.236 trillion. Remarkably, nearly 63% of this amount—Rs3.92 trillion—has been recovered in just the past 18 months through plea bargains, voluntary returns, and settlements.
