PM Shehbaz says US was among the first nations to recognize Pakistan

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that the ceasefire between Pakistan and India occurred due to US intervention. He said Pakistan accepted the ceasefire on America's request in the interest of regional peace.
Speaking at a ceremony hosted by the US Embassy in Islamabad to mark America’s 249th Independence Day, he extended congratulations and expressed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties. He noted that the relationship between the two countries is entering a new phase, and that the US was among the first nations to recognize Pakistan.
He said Pakistan has suffered immense losses in the war against terrorism, and its sacrifices in counterterrorism efforts are second to none.
Highlighting the historical context, he mentioned that Pakistan was a frontline state during the 1980s Afghan war, and after 9/11, it actively fought in the war against terrorism, bearing significant losses.
The Prime Minister further stated that India staged the Pulwama drama without providing any evidence. He asserted there is no doubt that the Pulwama incident was a false flag operation. Pakistan offered India an independent investigation, but instead, India launched an attack, to which Pakistan gave a strong response. He concluded by reiterating that it was due to US intervention that a ceasefire was reached, and Pakistan accepted it for the sake of regional peace.
