Temperatures across the province are expected to remain 4 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal


(Web Desk): The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert warning of an intense heatwave expected to persist in the province until June 12.
According to the alert, most districts in Punjab are likely to experience heightened heatwave conditions over the coming week. In particular, southern Punjab is forecasted to remain under severe heatwave conditions through June 12.
During this period, temperatures across the province are expected to remain 4 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal.
The PDMA spokesperson reported that extreme heat was recorded in Sargodha today, with the temperature reaching 47°C. Meanwhile, temperatures in other plains, including Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad, hovered around 45°C.
The PDMA added that southern districts such as Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Multan may face intensified heatwave conditions in the coming days.
The spokesperson further stated that, on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, all relevant departments have been placed on high alert. Heatwave counters have been set up in hospitals across the province.
In addition, instructions have been issued to ensure the availability of essential medicines to prevent and treat heatstroke.
