Individuals or companies selling goods or services through online platforms will now be subject to tax

(Web Desk): The federal government has decided to bring e-commerce or online businesses into the tax net in the budget. Individuals or companies selling goods or services through online platforms will now be subject to tax.
Federal Minister for Finance, Muhammad Aurangzeb, presented the Rs17,573 billion Budget 2025-26, announcing relief for the salaried class with significant reductions across all tax slabs.
However, the budget also includes the government's decision to introduce the Digital Presence Proceeds Tax Act 2025, which will bring e-commerce or online businesses into the tax net.
Individuals or companies selling goods or services through online platforms will be subject to this tax. Additionally, tax will also be imposed on goods and services ordered online. E-commerce businesses will be required to submit complete data of their monthly transactions and tax reports to the relevant authorities.
